2011

The Ragin Games was one of the first competitions hosted in Louisiana. The first Annual Ragin Games were held in November of 2011 at Ragin CrossFit, a 4,000 Square foot facility. We expected to have roughly 20-30 competitors from around Lafayette come and compete and 50 or so spectators. Once the word got out we ended up having 65 competitors from around the state and over 150 spectators take part in the first Annual Ragin Games at Ragin CrossFit. Athletes from Lake Charles, Alexandria, New Orleans, and other surrounding areas ended up showing up to take part on competition day. There was a 1st place tie between Jeff Prejean and Mark Stewart. After an L-sit tie breaker Mark Stewart walked away with 1st place in the Male Rx division. 1st place Female Rx division was Elizabeth Delee.

2012

Being that parking was a huge issue back in 2011 we decided to take the Ragin Games up a notch and rented out Top Shelf Sports. Top Shelf is a 33,000 sq ft indoor sports complex, which was perfect for what we were looking for. In 2012 our registration and spectator attendance more than doubled clicking in over 400 spectators and having 160 athletes register to compete. Once again Mark Stewart takes 1st place in the guys Rx division.

2013

With such a great turnout in 2012 we decided to hold the 3rd Annual Ragin Games once again at Top Shelf Sports.  This year after just a few weeks registration was almost full and we had 230 athletes ready to compete and had right at 800 spectators come to watch one of the largest growing CrossFit competitions in the south. This year Phillip Guillot would take the two time champ off of the podium to earn the title of 1st Place in the male Rx division. Megan Norris would take the 1st place spot for the Female Rx Division.

2014

As soon as the day was over last year we knew we had outgrown our venue.  We needed a space larger that could hold all of the equipment, warm up area, vendor area, lots of spectators, etc...So we decided to go to the Blackham Coliseum. This was a big step.  A 50,000 sq ft. building would be the new home of the Ragin Games. We decided to look into getting a Title Sponsor and a wonderful relationship formed between the Ragin Games and Kill Cliff.  In 2014 we clicked in over 1000 spectators and had a sold out registration of 285 athletes after 48 hours with a waiting list of over 50 athletes. Hunter Owen takes 1st place for male Rx division and Meg Cannon takes 1st place for female Rx division.

2015

The 2015 Kill Cliff Ragin Games was one for the books. Thanks to all of our Judges and volunteers, it was our most organized event so far. For the second year in a row we had over 1,000 spectators show up. We also got to see Reebok CrossFit Games athlete Brooke Ence hit a PR on her Clean and Jerk during the CrossFit Lift Off thanks to Kill Cliff and Brute Strength! Brooke hung around all day to take pictures and sign autographs. This years competition was very stiff as all of our Rx podium finishers made it past the open to go on and compete at the Reebok CrossFit Games Regional competition. Winner of the Masters divisions Jeff Prejean, placed 1st in the Masters Qualifier earning him a spot to California for the second year in a row to compete in the Reebok CrossFit Games. Alex Baronich took first place for male Rx and Hollye Henderson took first in the female Rx.

2016

The 2016 Kill Cliff Ragin Games came and went, and last year was just as awesome as years past thanks to all of our judges, volunteers, spectators, and athletes. In 2016 we added a same sex partner division, which turned out to be a big hit. Our partner divisions consisted of Male Rx, Female Rx, Male intermediate, and Female Intermediate. We saw lots of top athletes from around the region put on a great show for everyone there. The competition intensified in 2016 with a few new faces to the Ragin Games that made a big splash in their first year with us. First of which was Jessica Martinez, who took 1st in Rx Female. To go along with her Ragin Games victory, Jessica has also recently finished 1st in the 2017 CF Open in the Central East Region and 4th in the world in the 40-44 Masters Female Division. Alongside Jessica was another first time Ragin Games Competitor, Dale Meitzler, who took 1st place in the Rx Male division. On top of the podium in our new partner division Rx Males stood 2017 Regional Team competitors Cody Spell and Jacob Guillory. Taking first place for the Rx Females were Danielle Sawyer and Michelle Landry, who are also headed to the 2017 regionals on Team Hurricane CrossFit. With the excitement of 2016 we can’t wait to see what the 2017 Ragin Games has in store. Hope to see you all there at the Blackham Coliseum September 9th!
